Keighley Cougars have delivered some mixed news on the injury front, with first-team regular Alex Bishop set to miss at least the next six weeks of the Betfred League 1 season.

Following Sunday’s defeat to Hunslet, Bishop spent the night in Airedale Hospital, where he was treated for a fracture to his thyroid cartilage, which he sustained during the game.

While it was determined surgery was not required, the Australian will be out for between the next six to eight weeks.

Vice-captain Aaron Brown suffered a knee ligament sprain in the Hunslet clash, with the loose forward now unlikely to feature for the Cougars in their next match against North Wales Crusaders on Sunday, May 19.

But on the bright side, talented second rower Lachlan Lanskey is recovering well from an ankle sprain he suffered last month and is hopeful of returning for the North Wales game.
